How To Install Microsoft Dial-Up Networking For Windows 95Note: The following instructions for Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking will require a Windows 95 CD or Windows 95 diskettes. Please do not continue until you have one of the items. 1. From the desktop, slide your mouse pointer over the "Start" button (most often in the lower left corner of the screen) and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Start" menu will appear. 2. Slide your mouse pointer over the word "Settings". A side menu will appear 3. Slide your mouse pointer over the words "Control Panel" and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Control Panel" window will appear. 4. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Add/Remove Programs" icon (the icons are in alphabetical order) and double-click with the left mouse button. The "Add/Remove Programs Properties" window will appear. 5. At the top of the window you will see three tabs: "Install/Uninstall", "Windows Setup" and "Startup Disk". Slide your mouse pointer over the "Windows Setup" tab and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Windows Setup" tab will move to the front.
6. In the "Components:" entry box, you will see a list of components that can be installed with Windows 95. Slide your mouse pointer over the word "Communications" and single-click with the left mouse button. "Communications" will become highlighted. 7. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Details..." button (lower right hand corner, above the "Have Disk..." button) and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Communications" window will appear. 8. In the "Components:" entry box, you will see a list of communication components that can be installed with Windows 95. Slide your mouse pointer over the check box to the left of Dial-Up Networking (the grey square) and single-click with the left mouse button until there is a check in the box. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary. 9. Slide your mouse pointer over the "OK" button (lower right hand corner, next to "Cancel") and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Communications" window will disappear. 10. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Apply" button (lower right hand corner, next to "Cancel") and single-click with the left mouse button. The computer will ask for your Windows 95 diskettes or CD. 11. Slide your mouse pointer over the "OK" button (lower right hand corner, next to "Cancel") and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Add/Remove Programs Properties" window will disappear. 12. Close the Control Panel window. 13. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Start" button and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Start" menu will appear. 14. Slide your mouse pointer over the words "Shut Down..." and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Shut Down Windows" window will appear. 15. Slide your mouse pointer over the bullet (the white circle) to the left of the words "Restart the computer?" and single-click until there is a black dot inside the bullet. 16. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Yes" button and single-click with the left mouse button. Your computer will restart. 17. You have just installed Microsoft Dial-Up Networking on your computer. |
