How To Verify Dial-Up Networking
Settings For Windows NT
(RAS)


1.  From the desktop, slide your mouse pointer over the "My Computer" icon and double-click with the left mouse button. The "My Computer" window will appear.

2.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Dial-Up Networking" icon (inside the "My Computer" window) and double-click with the left mouse button. The "Dial-Up Networking" window will appear.

3.  Slide your mouse pointer over the upside-down triangle (to the right of the "Phonebook entry to dial:" entry box) and single-click with the left mouse button.  A pop-down selection will appear listing your phonebook entries. Refer to the image below for guidance if necessary.

4.  Slide your mouse pointer over the name of the phonebook entry you wish to verify, (it may say Internet Texoma in the name) and single-click with the left mouse button.

5.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "More" button (to the right of the "New..." button) and single-click with the left mouse button. A drop-down menu will appear. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

6.  Slide your mouse pointer over "Edit entry and modem properties..." and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Edit Phonebook Entry" window will appear.

7.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "Use Telephony dialing properties" and single-click until there is not a check. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

8.  In the "Phone number:" entry box (the white box next to the words "Phone number:") is the phone number that the computer dials to connect to the Internet.  The number should be one of Internet Texoma's modem pool numbers. Refer to the phone numbers below for guidance if necessary. If the number is not one of ours, slide your mouse pointer over the entry box and single-click with the left mouse button.  Type in the number that is a local call for you. Note: If your phone company requires 10 digit dialing, you will need to place the area code in the "Phone number" entry box in front of the phone number.

7.  You will see five tabs at the top of the window: "Basic", "Server", "Script", "Security" and "X.25". Slide your mouse pointer over the "Server" tab and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Server" tab will move to the front.

8.  Slide your mouse pointer over the upside-down triangle (to the right of the "Dial-up server type:" entry box) and single-click with the left mouse button.  A pop-down selection will appear. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

9.  Slide your mouse pointer over "PPP: Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus, Internet" and single-click with the left mouse button. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

10.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "TCP/IP" and click with the left mouse button until there is a check. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

11.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "IPX/SPX Compatible" and click with the left mouse button until there is not a check. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

12.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "NetBEUI" and click with the left mouse button until there is not a check. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

13.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "Enable software compression" and click with the left mouse button until there is a check. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

14.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "Enable PPP LCP extensions" and click with the left mouse button until there is a check. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

15.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "TCP/IP Settings..." button and single-click with the left mouse button. The "TCP/IP Settings" window will appear.

16.  Slide your mouse pointer over the bullet (the small white circle) to the left of the line "Server assigned IP address" and click with the left mouse button until there is a black dot inside the white circle. 

17.  Slide your mouse pointer over the bullet (the small white circle) to the left of the line "Specify name server addresses" and click with the left mouse button until there is a black dot inside the white circle. The DNS and WINS entry boxes will become active.

18.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Primary DNS:" entry box (the white area next to "Primary DNS:") and single-click with the left mouse button.  Remove the numbers in the entry box and enter "209.151.96.2". (NO QUOTES)

19.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Secondary DNS:" entry box (the white area next to "Secondary DNS:") and single-click with the left mouse button.  Remove the numbers in the entry box and enter "209.151.96.66". (NO QUOTES)

20. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "Use IP header compression" and click with the left mouse button until there is a check. 

21.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "Use default gateway on remote network" and click with the left mouse button until there is a check. 

22.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "OK" button and single-click with the left mouse button. The "TCP/IP Settings" window will disappear.

23.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Script" tab and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Script" tab will move to the front.

24.  Slide your mouse pointer over the bullet (the small white circle) to the left of the line "Run this script:" and click with the left mouse button until there is a black dot inside the white circle. The script entry boxes will become active. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

25.  Slide your mouse pointer over the upside-down triangle (to the right of the "Run this script:" entry box) and single-click with the left mouse button.  A pop-down selection will appear. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

26.  Slide your mouse pointer over "Generic login" and single-click with the left mouse button. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

27.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Security" tab and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Security" tab will move to the front.

28.  Slide your mouse pointer over the bullet (the small white circle) to the left of the line "Accept any authentication including clear text" and click with the left mouse button until there is a black dot inside the white circle. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

29.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "X.25" tab and single-click with the left mouse button. The "X.25" tab will move to the front.

30.  Slide your mouse pointer over the upside-down triangle (to the right of the "Network:" entry box) and single-click with the left mouse button.  A pop-down selection will appear. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

31.  Slide your mouse pointer over "(none)" and single-click with the left mouse button. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

32.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "OK" button and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Edit Phonebook Entry" window will disappear.

33.  Your RAS Setting are now set. Repeat the above steps for each of the Internet Texoma connections you may have.
