How to configure Windows XP for ten digit dialing.1. Depending on whether you are using classic view or category view, you can open Network Connections either by clicking on Start-->Connect To-->Show All Connections or by clicking on Start-->Settings-->Network Connections. 2. Right click on your dial-up connection and hit the Properties menu option.
3. Ensure that the box labeled "Use dialing rules" is unchecked, then add the area code to the beginning of the number under "Phone number". Dashes are optional.
