How To Verify Your Netscape Navigator Mail Settings


Note: The following  instructions for Netscape Navigator are designed for Netscape Navigator Version 3.04.  If you have an older version of Netscape Navigator, these instructions may still be used for some guidance in checking your settings.


1.  From inside Netscape Navigator, slide your mouse pointer over "Options" (at the top, between "Bookmarks" and "Directory") and single-click with the left mouse button.  A drop-down menu will appear.

2.  Slide your mouse pointer over "Mail and News Preferences..." and single-click with the left mouse mouse button. The "Mail and News Preferences" window will appear.

3.  You should see five tabs at the top of the window. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Servers" tab and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Servers" tab will move to the front.

4.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server:” entry box (the white area next to the words "Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server:") and single-click with the left mouse button.  Type in "smtp.texoma.net" (NO CAPS/NO QUOTES)  Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

5.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “Incoming Mail (POP3) Server:” entry box (the white area next to the words "Incoming Mail (POP3) Server:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type in "mail.texoma.net" (NO CAPS/NO QUOTES)  Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

6.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “POP 3 User Name:” entry box (the white area next to the words "POP 3 User Name:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type your user name.  Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.  Note: Your user name is the first part of your e-mail address, i.e..username@texoma.net.

7.  Slide your mouse pointer over the bullet (the white circle) to the left of "Removed from the server" and single-click with the left mouse button until there is a black dot in the bullet. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

8.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “News (NNTP) Server:” entry box (the white area next to the words "News (NNTP) Server:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type in "news.texoma.net". (NO CAPS/NO QUOTES)  Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

9.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Identity" tab and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Identity" tab will move to the front.

10.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “Your Name:” entry box (the white area next to the words "Your Name:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type your name as you would like it to appear on your e-mails. You may also leave this line blank if you desire. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

11.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “Your Email:” entry box (the white area next to the words "Your Email:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type your e-mail address. Note: Your e-mail address is your user name followed by "@texoma.net" i.e., username@texoma.net.  Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

12.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “Reply-to Address:” entry box (the white area next to the words "Reply-to Address:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type your e-mail address. Note: You may leave this line blank if you desire.  Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

13.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “Your Organization:” entry box (the white area next to the words "Your Organization:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type your company or club name. Note: You may leave this line blank if you desire.  Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

14.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Organization" tab and single-click with the left mouse button. The "Organization" tab will move to the front.

15.  Slide your mouse pointer over the "Check Box" to the left of "Remember Mail Password" and click with the left mouse button until there is a check. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.

16.  Slide your mouse pointer over the “OK” button and single-click with the left mouse button.

17.  Netscape Navigator e-mail is now set up.
