How To Verify And Change
Outlook Express Mail Settings
1. From inside Outlook Express, slide your mouse
pointer over "Tools" (upper left hand corner, between "Go"
and "Compose") and single-click with the left mouse button. A drop-down
menu will appear.
2. Slide your mouse pointer over "Accounts..."
and single-click with the left mouse mouse button. The "Internet Accounts"
window will appear.

3. You should see four tabs at the top of the window:
"All", "News", "Mail", and "Directory Service".
Slide your mouse pointer over the "Mail" tab and single-click with the left
mouse button. The "Mail" tab will move to the front.
4. Slide your mouse pointer over the mail account you
wish to verify and single-click with the left mouse button. Refer to the image above
for guidance if necessary.
5. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Properties"
Button (right side, below "Remove") and single-click with the left mouse
button. The "Properties" window will appear for that account.

6. Slide your mouse pointer over the Name:
entry box (the white area next to the word "Name:") and single-click with
the left mouse button. Type your name as you would like it to appear on your e-mails.
Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.
7. Slide your mouse pointer over the Organization:
entry box (the white area next to the word "Organization:") and
single-click with the left mouse button. Type your company or club name as you would like
it to appear on your e-mails. You may also leave this line blank if you desire. Refer to
the image above for guidance if necessary.
8. Slide your mouse pointer over the E-mail
address: entry box (the white area next to the words "E-mail
address:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type in your e-mail address.
(NO CAPS) Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.
9. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Reply
address:" entry box (the white box area next to the word "Reply
address:") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type in your e-mail
address. You may also leave this line blank if you desire. Refer to the image above
for guidance if necessary.
10. Slide your mouse pointer over the
"Server" tab (at the top of the window, between "General" and
"Connection") and single-click with the left mouse button. The
"Server" tab will move to the front.
11. Slide your mouse pointer over the Outgoing
mail (SMTP): entry box (the white area next to the words "Outgoing mail
(SMTP):") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type in
"smtp.texoma.net". (NO CAPS) Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.
12. Slide your mouse pointer over the Incoming
mail (POP3): entry box (the white area next to the words "Incoming mail
(POP3):") and single-click with the left mouse button. Type in
"mail.texoma.net". (NO CAPS) Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.
13. Slide your mouse pointer over the bullet (the
white circle) to the left of the line "Log on using:" and single-click
until there is a black dot in it.
14. Slide your mouse pointer over the Account
name: entry box (the white area next to the words "Account name:")
and single-click with the left mouse button. Type in your e-mail user name. (NO CAPS) Your
e-mail user name is the first part of your e-mail address, i.e.,
username@texoma.net. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.
15. Slide your mouse pointer over the Password:
entry box (the white area next to the word "Password:") and single-click
with the left mouse button. Type in your e-mail password. Note: The password is case
sensitive, type in capital letters when necessary.
16. Slide your mouse pointer over the
"Connection" tab (at the top of the window, between "Servers" and
"Security") and single-click with the left mouse button. The
"Connection" tab will move to the front.

17. Slide your mouse pointer over the bullet (the
white circle) to the left of the line "Connect using my phone line" and
single-click until there is a black dot in it.
18. Slide your mouse pointer over the upside-down
triangle (below the line "Use the following Dial-Up Networking
connection:" ) and single-click with the left mouse button. A drop-down selection
will appear. Refer to the image above for guidance if necessary.
19. Slide your mouse pointer over the words
"Internet Texoma" and single-click with the left mouse button. "Internet
Texoma" will become highlighted. Refer to the image above for guidance if
necessary.
20. Slide your mouse pointer over the Apply
button and single-click with the left mouse button.
20. Slide your mouse pointer over the OK
button and single-click with the left mouse
button.
21. Your Microsoft Outlook Express settings are now
correct. Slide your mouse pointer over the "Send and Receive" icon on the
toolbar and single-click with the left mouse button to check your e-mail. |
